Fire in Nork Forest

22/06/2006

On Sunday at 9:50 p.m. a fire broke out in the Nork forest. According to head of ArmForest, Martun Matevosyan, the fire broke out from the bottom part of the forest where there are houses and was put out at 11:20 p.m. Today ArmForest representatives visited the forest and saw some workers working near those houses where a fire could break out. Mr. Matevosyan doesn’t say the people are to blame for the fire, but it is possible. The fire burnt 4,5 hectares of the forest territory and there were over 500 trees planted. According to head of ArmForest, if their representatives were not there and didn’t put out the fire, it would cover more territories due to the wind. He says that they will know the amount of damaged trees in ten days.
