U.S. president George Bush has recommended Richard Hoagland to be appointed as U.S. Ambassador to Armenia. After the Senate’s approval of Hoagland’s candidacy, he will come to Armenia most definitely in August. Hoagland is currently the U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan. According to “Azatutyun” radio station, Hoagland is a specialist of Caucasus and Central Asia and has been working at the Department of State for 20 years. Before being appointed Ambassador in Dushanbe, Hoagland used to be head of Caucasus and Central Asia department of the Department of State Bureau of Europe and Eurasia. During the war between Russia and Afghanistan he used to work with the powers that were against Russia. As for the current U.S. Ambassador Mr. John Evans, according to the sources of “Azadutyun” radio station, he is not going to continue working at the U.S. State Department.
