Undercover agents

The police, national security and the other relevant bodies are losing the role they play in politics day by day because Aram Karapetyan can do their job alone. The head of the NT recently announced that he had his own agents and could get any information he wanted. As for this network of undercover agents, they have been working so well recently that they have even managed to get information about foreign embassies in Armenia.

Aram Karapetyan held a press conference, where he said that that he had a report made by an Embassy of another country, which stated that “Armenia is a third-world country”. According to Aram Karapetyan, the Ambassador informed his country that everything respected in the whole world are not common in Armenia, “When people want to work in Armenia, they don’t expect to get money, but they expect to give it so as to make them sure that they are their friends and work like them”. As for this information, A. Karapetyan didn’t say where he got it from, but only said that he got it with the help of his friends and undercover agents.

After this announcement A. Karapetyan started speaking about the internal political situation in Armenia and other geopolitical issues. According to Aram Karapetyan, geopolitical powers have their role in the latest political developments connected with the Rule of Law; in particular he says that France placed a key role. According to him, what happened to the Rule of Law had been planned by the authorities beforehand and the political crisis was controlled, and, as he said, this was all connected with the “coming geopolitical actions”. “The authorities need to win time for the Karabagh conflict. Accordingly, under the conditions of a controlled crisis, Kocharyan can disband the parliament anytime he wants and hold new elections. This political crisis will allow him to say that he needs time”, says A. Karapetyan. A. Karapetyan thinks that these political changes are planned and are controlled by the authorities. “At least A.Baghdasaryan hasn’t forgotten that he was speaker of the National Assembly for the past three years thanks to Kocharyan”. As for the geopolitical aspects of France, A. Karapetyan said that Arthur Baghdasaryan made those announcements just after his visit to Europe. According to him, after going to Europe A. Baghdasaryan understood that it was not good for him to stay under the cover of Kocharyan. Aram Karapetyan doesn’t believe that A. Baghdasaryan will be able to become oppositionist. “I don’t think he is oppositional enough to take certain steps. You need to be really oppositionist in order to be able to be represented in the oppositional field”, says A. Karapetyan. He thinks that A. Baghdasaryan collaborates with the authorities. “They had a serious problematic conflict with Artashes Tumanyan. As for Arthur Baghdasaryan, they don’t have any conflicts with him, if they did, they would start the legal proceedings”, assures Aram Karapetyan. In addition, he thinks that the Rule of Law was founded based on the scenario of the authorities. “The Rule of Law is a scenario, but not a party. All scenarios end sooner or later”, says Karapetyan. According to him the scenario they planned out with the help of the Rule of Law is the Euro integration. “In order to demonstrate Euro integration they need a young populist politician”, says A.Karapetyan. The Rule of Law will become a party only if it keeps its team after this and continues developing. According to A.Karapetyan, the worst thing for this party was Sergo Yeritsyan, who left his team in order to be appointed as the president’s advisor. “It turned out that a good position is more important than the party’s ideology and their friendship for him. This is not good. But it is not the first time that something like this happens in Armenia”, says Aram Karapetyan.

After discussing the Rule of Law, Aram Karapetyan started speaking about Armenia’s geopolitics. He said that Armenia should keep very good relations with Russia, meanwhile keep good relations with the US as well. For this purpose he thinks it will be good for Armenia to make a confederation with Russia. “Armenia’s problem is its authorities, but not the foreign world. As for these authorities, they know how to act; whenever they are in trouble they give up something to solve their problem. When the relations with Russia were a little bit suspicious, they gave the fifth bloc to them. There is a group among them that is ready to give everything so as not to let anyone touch their money and other resources. There is no other country like this in the CIS”, says Aram Karapetyan. In this case he thinks that it is possible to struggle, but he doesn’t believe that it may be successful. Aram Karapetyan didn’t make any predictions concerning the upcoming 2007 parliamentary elections. “In 2007 the situation may change rapidly and all the existing “favorites” may lose the roles they play in politics and new people may come up. I have no comment on this. I think we will be able to say something only in early 2007”. Aram Karapetyan thinks that if the situation in our country doesn’t change, elections won’t be worth it anymore.
