Old Albanians

24/05/2006

This is what Russian MP and director of the Institute of CIS countries Constantine Zatulin called Azerbaijani during the conference entitled “The Caucasus without conflicts and terror- Dialogue of Cultures”. Mr. Zatulin was talking about the history of Caucasian nations and, after mentioning Armenians and Georgians, he remembered the “Azerbaijani, or old Albanians”. Politician Andranik Mihranyan was the only one out of the gathered who dared to contradict what he said and stated that they are different nations. His Russian colleague didn’t wish to debate and simply said with a smile:

“Perhaps there are different opinions about that.”
