On the morning of May 3, we all found out that the plane, belonging to “Armavia” had crashed into the Black Sea at three in the morning. We also found out that 105 passengers and 8 stewards/stewardesses had died. As to why it crashed, that remained a mystery. The black boxes with all the information had disappeared. There is no new information even ten days after the crash. Russian and Armenian state officials assure us that they will do their best to find the black boxes and reveal the reasons why the plane crashed. However, they are not letting the public know about the details of the conversation between the Armenian pilot and the dispatchers at the Sochi airport. At least that would have helped clear some things up until they found the black boxes. What’s more, the Russian side has kept the dispatchers hidden until now. This is what makes everyone believe that the Russians are partly to blame for what happened. All the Russian and Armenian presses tell the public about the crash is the number of victims and how many parts of the destructed plane have been taken out of the water.
Whereas on May 3, when there was hope that the aftermath of the crash would be revealed, today everyone is in a state of uncertainty. The promises and work don’t instill faith that they will give the public the reasons for the crash even after finding the black boxes. People started worrying about this the minute they heard Russian and Armenian officials announce that they may not find the black boxes. But now, when the French have gotten into the act, it seems as though there is still hope-especially since they have already found out that the boxes are not that deep down in the sea. They are located not 700 meters deep, but rather nearly 450 meters.
According to well-known pilot and head of the National Aviation Union Dmitri Adbashyan, they can find the black boxes if they want, just like the expensive jewels, china and other accessories of the victims of the “Titanic” were found and sold at auctions during the past couple of years. As a matter of fact, the “Hollywood” film production had actually rented a Russian subway while filming “Titanic” and filmed some scenes of the destructed ship. Let’s not forget to mention that “Titanic” is located 4000 meters beneath sea level, while the A-320 plane or the black boxes have a depth of 670 or 450 meters. Based on all this, it’s hard to believe that the Russians actually want to reveal the aftermath, especially since rumor has it that the Russians have even found the black boxes, taken them out of water and kept them somewhere. They are simply conducting a search and rescue to show that they want to find out the reasons. It’s hard to understand Armenian state officials, who, before talking about the “case” in the first days after the crash, were thanking the Russian authorities for helping take out the dead bodies from beneath the sea and transferring them to Armenia. The Armenian state officials even used that tragic event as a means of getting on Russia’s good side.
The ICAO (an international aviation union) is also worried about the crash. The union demands finding the black boxes. The search on the Black Sea continues, but unfortunately the technical equipment either continues to dysfunction or gets lost; the search stops for hours due to the sea’s fluttering of waves. After ten days, you get the impression that the slowing down of the search is phony. Armenian presses don’t even talk about this and in the end of the articles say that the search continues. It seems as though there is an intention to forget about the crash before actually revealing the aftermath so that the revelation won’t shock the people later on.
What we don’t know is whether or not ICAO or the French “Airbus” company specialists will follow-up on the search until the end, or even if the black boxes are found, will they give the public the right reasons? Will they simply come up with an explanation for everyone? What’s the meaning of not being able to decode the 15-20 minute conversation between the Armenian pilot and the dispatchers at the Sochi airport? What’s the secret hidden beneath the Black Sea that the Russian and Armenian sides are working on not revealing? The sad part of it all is that the Armenians, Russians and even the French look at all the crash as simply a “mishap”.
Nobody knows for sure how long it will take until we get some information. Meanwhile, there are many rumors flying around, but you don’t know which one to believe. For example, there is a rumor that there were some drunk business class passengers on the plane, they came drunk to the airport, continued to eat and drink in the VIP hall of the airport and later on in the plane. There were even some rumors yesterday that some shots were heard in the plane.
