Administrative member of the Voluntary Union of Land Defenders and
National Assembly deputy Hakob Hakobyan believes that the “Land
Defender” could not do anything to prevent the events of October 27
from taking place. What can the “Land Defender” do in the first place?
The “Land Defender” is not a lawful body that can defend the country.
Whatever he or she does, it always turns out wrong in politics,” he
said during an interview. What would Vazgen Sargsyan do in times like
these? In response to that, Mr. Hakobyan said: “If he was alive, the
country would be a great country….If he was with us now, the country
would not see terrorism.” H. Hakobyan answered in the following way to
the question about whether or not there would be an “October 27” during
the time when Vazgen Sargsyan was alive: “There would be one directed
towards him. But if he were to be with us, then it would happen to
another person.” The next question was connected with the Voluntary
Union of Land Defenders. Would the union solve the inter-political
issues if the October 27 events were not to be revealed in the upcoming
years? He replied: “With the passing of the years, the “Land Defender”
grows old. They slowly fade away. Whatever they do, the young
generation has to continue,” said H. Hakobyan.
