The police were suspicious about only one person-tenth grade student Dennis Kulagin, who was taken to the police department. But he was released after 72 hours. According to the Russian prosecutor’s office, Dennis killed Vigen for insulting his lover. But the lawyer of Vigen’s family, Simon Tsaturyan, doesn’t agree with this. He says that the fact that the killer stabbed Vigen’s heart with a knife is proof that the murderer was a professional, but not a schoolboy. Besides that, according to him the killer was not alone because he was physically injured on other parts of his body. The lawyer thinks that it is strange that the police don’t have any video films taken from the underground station because, as he says, there are many cameras installed in that underground station. “They say these cameras didn’t tape murder at that moment, but I think the police are trying to hide the real facts to show that there are no nationalistic reasons in this case”, said the lawyer.

Armenians living in Moscow visited the Armenian Church on April 24th- Armenian Genocide day. But people were so worried about the murder of Abrahamyants that that they just couldn’t get that out of their minds. An Armenian (in the picture) expressed his concerns by taking out a knife and saying, “All of us must carry knives. Don’t let them kill us, protect yourselves”. Some women said that they had told their children to keep knives with them. The head of the Russian Armenians’ Union, Ara Abrahamyan, has taken this into consideration. He says he will do what he can to find the killers and punish them. Ara Abrahamyan blamed the Russian police for their poor work and said that there is a rise in the number of such crimes.
