During the Soviet Union, the Georgian press was full of publications about the Saingilo issue (Azerbaijan). There are over 30 Georgian villages in that territory, and most of the citizens living there have turned Muslim. Most of these citizens speak Azeri now, only some continue to speak Georgian. It was prohibited to speak Georgian there and Georgia criticized them for these limitations. But now Georgian scientists don’t speak about the Azeri pressure on their citizens to speak their language and prohibit Georgian. Instead of this, the only thing they are capable of doing is demanding things from Armenia.
