Yesterday the foreign affairs ministers of the US and Greece, Condoleezza Rice and Dora Bakoyani, announced that they advocated Turkey to join the European Union.

“We believe that Turkey should join the Euro Union. In parallel to this there is much work to do, for example, the Cyprus issue should be solved. We are sure that both Turkey and Cyprus will have a good political will to solve the problem”, said Rice. According to her, “Cyprus shouldn’t set boundaries for Turkey to enter Europe”. As for Bakyani, he expressed his concerns about the Turkish policy implemented towards Greece. “Currently, Turkey’s policy is not good”, said Bakoyani and added that that are things in their policy that “are not good for establishing good ties and don’t comply with the announcements of Turkey concerning joining the Euro Union”.
