RA former minister of National Security Service, Carlos Petrosyan, currently works as an advisor to the Russian “TransOil” company. During the Soviet era, these kinds of officials were not allowed to leave the country after they resigned because they had information concerning the national security issues. Former officials were not allowed to go out of the country because they might leave with confidential information. But in order to have the former officials leave the country without any negative consequences, the authorities of the country should first of all pass laws and set limitations. As for Carlos Petrosyan, he is one of those rare officials who were fired and were not given any other position. Of course they don’t have to offer him other positions.
It would be wrong to say that Carlos Petrosyan is needy. He has a very big house not far from the Mergelyan Institute (in a place called Red Hill) and supposedly some buyers offer him $2,5 million for that house but he doesn’t agree to sell it. Before this house used to have 4.000 meters territory, but now it has over 6.000 meters territory because it has occupied the territory of the Institute boiler rooms, as well as other workshops. The former minister has built a gym in the boiler room and now he wants to open a new and separate route to his house passing near the kitchen of the Institute. It is said that the New Year trees that he has in his yard were planted in winter. Of course most of the trees that they brought from different regions of Armenia didn’t survive during the winter, were cut off and thrown away. Carlos Petrosyan ordered to bring squirrels to his garden. The former national security officers don’t have any good memories with Carlos Petrosyan. They don’t forget how he “piled up” 20 professionals, brought a case against them and fired them. Many people can’t forget his son’s violations and how he used to harm and injure innocent people. Several years ago, Robert Kocharyan ranked Carlos Petrosyan a general. Even then, when giving this title, they didn’t know for what services and for what cases of investigation they gave him that title, there was no reason to do that. However, according to our information from the National Security Services office, now some officers are investigating the “issues not known about” of his period and the shadowy violations he used to do. Our sources say that there is high chance that police will put him in jail.
