John Danilovich, American congressman and head of the “Millennium Challenges” corporation, says that his visit to Armenia was a success for him and his delegation. “We wouldn’t start implementing the “Millennium challenges” program if we were not sure that the Armenian Government and society wanted to have fair and democratic elections. But only election days are not enough for having fair elections. It is a long process starting from voter lists, campaigning all the way to financial resources spent on it”, says head of the delegation, Congressman Jim Kolbey. He said that the implementation of the “Millennium challenges” program could be stopped in case the elections of 2007 and 2008 didn’t comply with democratic standards.
