Since 2002, the BBC radio station has been declaring contests to decide the best entertainers for the World Music Awards. The World Music Award is one of the most prestigious awards given to musicians based on the votes of music-lovers around the world. This year, the “Armenian Navy Band” won the award for “Audience Approval”. Nearly 20,000 people had cast their votes for our compatriots online. Musicians of the “Armenian Navy Band” hosted a press conference yesterday at the “Avant-garde folk” club, however their band leader Arto Tunchboyadjian wasn’t present. He is currently on vacation in New York and will arrive in Yerevan on April 20 along with his 19-year old son Sedrak and some of Sedrak’s musician friends. Members of the band are certain that Sedrak will follow in his father’s footsteps. After they come to Armenia on April 20, Sedrak Tunchboyadjian and his band, which is named after him, will also perform in some of the concerts of the “Armenian Navy Band”.
