The 2005 annual report of the National Academy of Sciences was presented yesterday during the general meeting. According to the report, the academy’s activities during the past year were considered as a record. Vice-president, academician-secretary of the NAS Edward Ghazaryan presented the report and he emphasized three points, which were part of the record. In 2005, the NAS had published 138 monographs, organized nearly 20 international conferences and more than ten scientists had received awards in Armenia and abroad for their achievements in the science field. There were no disputes among academicians, in contrast to other meetings in the past. They just took advantage of the fact that both minister of education and sciences Sergo Yeritsyan and head of the National Assembly committee on science, education, culture and youth issues Hranush Hakobyan were there; they moaned and groaned about the bad funding with the hope that they would listen to their complaints and do something.
