The border is quiet

Recently it is spoken much that the relatives and friends of citizens of Karabakh, living out of Karabakh, often call them and ask about the situation in Karabakh. As for citizens of Karabakh, they feel fine because they know that everything is quiet at the border. Besides that, recently there hasn’t been any information regarding anything about victims. The situation at the border is peaceful. There have been ceasefire violations since 1994, but currently the situation is normal. As for the recent activation, this is normal because the situation always becomes a little bit active after winter when soldiers start to do some works and change their places. This was what defense minister of Karabakh, Seiran Ohanyan said. He also says that Azeri soldiers often shoot having targeted and we have to be fool not to answer to these targeted shootings. He also assures that there are no victims in Karabakh resulted from ceasefire violations. According to analyzers the approach of Azerbaijan connected with this has several aims: they either want to demonstrate to the International community that Armenia is implementing an aggressive policy or want to demonstrate to the Armenian society that Karabakh is in war conditions and that they shouldn’t let their guys go there. Besides that they also want to present their list of violations to some certain international diplomatic bodies and win some political dividends. A lot of citizens of Karabakh think that Azerbaijan is spreading such rumors with the purpose of being able to reach their political goals.

MP, head of “Havat” NGO, former deputy to the defense minister of Karabakh, general-colonel Vitali Balansyan recently announced that he was going to initiate parliamentary discussions with the purpose of adopting some legal provisions on providing security guarantees for citizens of Karabakh.

According to Mr. Balasanyan after the extreme announcements on the part of Azerbaijan and numerous violations of ceasefire we have to take some certain actions to mobilize our military potential and get ready for any possible actions to counterattack. According to this law the parliament of Karabakh will ask the parliament of Armenia to adopt some legal provisions and acts to allocate certain numbers of Armenian military forces in Karabakh. According to Mr. Balasanyan they will present Azerbaijan in their legal provisions as an aggressor neighboring country implementing aggressive territorial policy. Regarding this citizen of Stepanakert, veteran of Karabakh war, A. Hakobyan says, “We shouldn’t forget that war may start at any moment, we should be ready for it and we should remain strong to protect ourselves”.
