Based on the information provided by the press department of the Civic Aviation chief department of the government, 101,000 people have left for abroad from the “Zvartnots” airport, and 2,000 from the “Shirak” airport during the first trimester of this year. Compared to last year, the numbers have gone down-800 and 2400 respectively. However, the number of tourists coming to Armenia has also gone down. During the first trimester of 2006, 80,800 people have gone to the “Zvartnots” airport and 1100 to “Shirak”. Basically, 21,400 people have left Armenia and haven’t returned in the matter of three months. But we can’t say the same for the export of cargo. This year, “Zvartnots” has exported 781 tons of cargo, while “Shirak” has exported 700 kilograms of cargo. Instead of exports, Armenia has imported products-1026 and 2.6 tons respectively. In the past three months, imports by airplane have been nearly 247 tons. Compared to the first trimester of 2005, this year the number of departures and arrivals of the “Shirak” airport hasn’t changed much, while the number at “Zvartnots” has gone down from 1529 to 1423.
