The dogs are worried

10/04/2006

The city of Gyumri generally has problems with wandering dogs in spring each year. Two dogs have already attacked pedestrians on the streets of Aygabats and Komitas in Gyumri and those streets lead to the schools. According to one of the citizens of Gyumri, two dogs had attacked a mother and child by ripping their clothes and injuring the child’s leg.

Residents try their best to not walk on the streets where there are a lot of dogs, but sometimes that is impossible. Parents are forced to accompany their children to school each morning because they never know what may happen along the way. The residents have appealed to the corresponding bodies, but they have refused to do anything about eliminating the dogs simply because they don’t have the resources. Only after the abovementioned cases did the Gyumri municipality’s news and public relations department announce that the municipality would restart the process of getting rid of the dogs within 10 days. Until then, there are more and more dogs appearing on the streets of Gyumri and scaring the passer-bys.
