After the adoption of the RA law on dual citizenship, our enemies, Turks and Azerbaijani, may get Armenian citizenship too. We wonder whether the ARF, which was the most active to adopt this law, will agree with this. Yesterday we asked head of the ARF parliamentary faction, Levon Mkrtchayn, and member of ARF board, Armen Rustamyan. “Of course not, how can the ARF agree with it and let them get Armenian citizenship? The state committee is going to decide based on our national security criteria: they will either postpone those applications or reject”, said Levon Mkrtchyan. As for Mr. Rustamyan, he thinks that the state committee will not grant citizenship to citizens of Azerbaijan and Turkey taking into account the aspect of our national security. It is worth mentioning that Armenians born in Armenia can get dual citizenship according to the existing simple procedures, as for others, they have to apply to the corresponding committee.
