Will the nuclear power plant be closed?

Yesterday the RA prime minister had a meeting with the deputy head of the foreign affairs department of the Euro commission, Fokion Fotaidisi. During this meeting they discussed issues regarding the energetic security of Armenia, closing the nuclear power plant of Metsamor and coming up with new sources of energy. The prime minister said that Armenia would not be against closing the nuclear power plant, but only in case of finding new sources of energy and providing energetic security and independence for Armenia. According to him in case of finding necessary financial support it will be possible to close the nuclear power plant atomic station and build a new one. Mr. Fotaidis said that the presence of concrete plan of closing the nuclear power plant and about the further steps to be taken will help the international community to understand the importance of the issue better. According to him this will serve grounds to organize international conferences for the purpose of getting financial support from donors.
