The documentary by Harutyun Khachaturyan entitled “The Documental
director” has not been shown to the public. H. Khachaturyan has
premiered the film at many festivals and competitions and has even been
awarded the Armenian state prize. Harutyun Khachaturyan has been
recognized as the “Best director” during the “Arsenal” film festival in
Riga. The documentary reminisces the past decade of Armenian life. The
director has wished to show the real world with all its problems and
dark sides. The film is composed of different episodes depicting
melancholic scenes of beggars, homeless children, abandoned quarries,
the settlements, etc. The main theme is hopelessness. The documentary
ends with the scene showing the annihilation of dogs accompanied by
howls. The message: if society doesn’t respect animals, how can it be
considered humanist? The director disproves humanity nowadays through
the film. Finally, the documental proves that when you feel pain, you
always prefer to get healed even if there is no hope.
