According to Paruyr Hairikyan, Armenian oligarchs are acting “rather foolishly’ by founding new political parties. “When the National Self-Determination Union (NSDU) existed and new parties were being found, that was a “foolish behavior” too. It’s the same thing now. There are a lot of parties, they can join one of them and work there. For instance Artashes Tumanyan: he started doing it, but later stopped. What is this? They are serious people and should join one of the existing parties and develop those parties”. In response to the fact that he could do that but the authorities didn’t let him he answered, “The authorities are doing that too. Who are they to stop them? This means that the proposed party was not good enough”.
