Aydin Morikyan, journalist. – I don’t think so and I think that the threats by both countries are mostly to threaten the internal powers. The presidents want to remind their people that they still exist. Even if they want to do that, the international community will not let them do this.
Ashot Melikyan, head of the speech freedom protection committee. – I don’t think so. Whatever is said in Azerbaijan and Armenia is a result of the failure of negotiations and usually these kinds of failures result in critical announcements. There may be violations of cease-fire, the situation may become a little worse, but there will be no war. The international community will not understand this and besides that both parties are not able to attack intensively because they don’t have that kind of military potential.
Mesrop Harutyunyan, expert of Yerevan press club. – I don’t think it is possible. I hope that these two parties will be clever enough not to start a warm, but rather solve the problem peacefully. I think that they have to stop making these critical announcements and negotiate.
Poghosyan Maya, Psychologist. – I don’t think there is anyone in Armenia who wants a new war to start. The pains and memories from the war are still fresh. There may be critical situations but I believe there will be no war.
Anonymous journalist with 37 years of work experience. -If I were the president I would not declare war, but as for the existing ones, we can expect everything from them. Anyway I don’t think the international community will let the parties declare war because they have invested much money in oil production in Azerbaijan. It is not in the interest of the ones that have “big interests” in the region to make a war.
Liparit Seorbyan, geologist. – If Azerbaijan succeeds and develops rapidly there will be a war. As for us, we don’t need a war because our internal affairs are bad as it without a war.
Movsisyan Nikolay, pensioneer (80). -There will be no war because the whole world is trying to ceasefire. As for these critical announcements, they are mainly targeted to disorient people.
Romik, painter. – I think there will be war, because a Turk remains a Turk. They have lost territories and they will fight to get them back. Besides that Turkey backs them, but what about us? Don’t believe that anyone will help us in case of war.
Grigoryan Hasmik, pensioner. – I think there are tendencies to war and it seems to me that there won’t be war only if Armenia makes tangible compromises.
Gayane Hovhannisyan, accountant. – It is impossible. These critical announcements are just political acts. I think this is connected with the upcoming presidential elections.
Stepanyan Marine, teacher. – Neither of the parties needs to declare war. It can’t bring anything good. I worry about the recent critical announcements. I think the officials must think well before making such announcements.
Ghazaryan Ruben, economist. – No one thinks about this country. As if things weren’t bad enough, now we’re declaring war! The presidents seem to compete who will make more critical and targeted announcements. They shouldn’t do that. They should think more about our country’s economy.
