Recently there have been cases when people purposely leave their children on the streets. This happened several days ago not far from the “Sasuntsi David” train station. According to our information police found a 3 year-old girl in the building of the train station. Later the child was sent to the corresponding bodies to get help and the police took actions to find out who the child was. The police found out that this girl was a citizen of Ashnak village of Aragatsotn region, was born in 2003 and her name was Marlena Masis Zorikyan. The father of the child was called to the local police station. He told the police that his wife (Shushanik Stepanyan, born in 1980) left the house with their child in October, 2005, after a family conflict and said that she couldn’t resist their financial crisis any more. The woman didn’t take their other child (Grigor aged 5). A couple of days ago the mother of the child, Shushanik Stepanyan was found by the police and brought to the police station. She tried to justify herself by saying that the reason was her financial deep crisis and that she couldn’t keep the child. She also said that the reason she didn’t take her child to an orphanage was that her heart would not bear that and she didn’t have any documents with her. According to her these are the reasons why she left her child out on the streets.
