19/03/2006

The state is going to provide 42 million with the purposes of collapsing the buildings in Gyumri city that are in danger since the earthquake. 30 million is foreseen to destruct the remains of the former Pioneer Palace and cleaning the territory. This will be implemented by Gyumri municipality. It is not decided yet what will be done with that territory. Several years ago a person from Moscow said that he wanted to do philanthropic work and build an educational center there which is going to be the branch of the Lazaryan educational center. He also said that Gyumri was going to be a center for Armenian and Eastern sciences. But he died before even starting. As for the citizens of Gyumri, they are afraid that instead of this cultural center some people might build a shop or a gas station there.
