In response to the suggestion of the NA Deputy of “Justice” alliance Hrant Khachatryan, “it would be better if the deputy-ombudsman was from the opposition”, current Ombudsman of Armenia Armen Harutyunyan answered, “They always say that the Ombudsman’s Institute is too personalized. This was also mentioned during the NA election of the Ombudsman. If it’s a personalized institute it cannot be politicized. Therefore, the suggestion that the deputy should be from the opposition contradicts the main principles of this institute. Few countries have deputies, I know only Georgia. The deputy should follow my orders.”
