The first and last president of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev made a startling announcement during his interview with the “Moscow Comsomolets” newspaper edition a couple of days ago. According to him, it was justified for Nagorno Karabagh to be excluded from Azerbaijan. Gorbachev added that when he was president, there was a certain plan according to which Karabagh had a specific status and was linked to Armenia, but that didn’t mean that its territory was out of Azerbaijan. He didn’t really go further into detail about that plan and said that it wasn’t a success thanks to Heydar Aliev.
“Today, Armenians and Azerbaijani hate me, but they proclaimed Heydar Aliev a national hero,” said the first and last president of the USSR.
