Now it’s chocolate

It seems as though the trademark issue has become more of a family matter for owner of Grand Candy Hrant Vartanyan. According to the committee on State Economic Competition Defense of Armenia, the recent commercials drawing comparisons between the Ukrainian, Russian and Armenian “Grand Candy” chocolates are not too convincing. Based on the law on “Economic Competition defense” of Armenia, the television networks broadcasting those commercials will no longer broadcast them.

What’s interesting is that this initiative was not taken by the State Committee on State Economic Competition Defense, but rather by the Ambassador to Ukraine in Armenia Alexander Bozhko. According to him, there is misinformation regarding the chocolates produced by Ukraine (especially the high-quality “ABK” chocolates in the CIS countries) and the chocolates produced by “Grand Candy”.
As for the conflicts between “International Masis Tabak” and “Nemiroff”, which “168 hours” had touched upon in the previous edition, there are still some uncertainties. The trial scheduled for February 21 (“International Masis Tabak” against the Intellect Property Agency of Armenia) has been postponed. According to representative of the agency A. Abgaryan, the third side of the defendant-representative of the “Breyfield Trust Reg.” company, has postponed the trial so that he can have more time to get better acquainted with the documents. The next trial will take place on March 6. Meanwhile, the cigarettes with the “Nemiroff” trademark can be found in many stores around the city.
