Parallel to the meeting of Kocharyan and Aliyev, there was another meeting in Brussels, but this meeting was about soccer. All we were interested in was how the teams of Azerbaijan and Armenia would have to play their game in the Euro 2008 soccer competition. The decision was shocking: the games are going to be organized both in Armenia and in Azerbaijan. The press secretary of the Armenian Soccer federation, Arayik Manukyan was not informed about what kind of security guarantees Azerbaijan was going to provide. The first play with the Azerbaijani team is going to take place on September 8, 2007 in Azerbaijan, and later in four days the teams will meet in Armenia. This decision is very surprising. Maybe the organizers hope that the Karabakh conflict will be solved by that time and politicians will be able to create a peaceful political environment in the countries.
