Yesterday the RA National Assembly didn’t succeed in electing an Ombudsman. The deputies didn’t expect this and it is hard to say whether or not politics had to do with this. Most probably Armen Harutyunyan didn’t get elected due to “technical reasons”. This means that the coalition has not properly organized the procedure. But this doesn’t say a lot. Most probably Ombudsman will be elected today. And indeed it is going to be A. Harutyunyan. And if he’s not elected it will mean that Armenia will not have an Ombudsman for the time being. This time it won’t be Kocharyan’s fault, but rather the National Assembly’s.
