Duets with stars

The project will be based on duets. One member of the newly established duets will be a famous Armenian singer and the other one will be a child. “There are over 1,000 children in orphanages in Armenia, 1,100 children live in insecure families, and there are 8,000 handicapped children who live and study in special boarding schools. And all these children are not able to use their creative skills. We’re going to try to involve them in singing,” said the director of the “Van” radio station, Shushanik Arevshatyan. A couple of dozen of talented children were selected for this project. It is obvious how excited the children are about the final results. 15 children may have an opportunity to sing with such singers as Shushan Petrosyan, Aramo, Andre, Forsh, Kristine Pepelyan, Inga and Anush Arshakyans, Arsen Safaryan and others. Moreover, each child is going to personally choose the singer he/she would like to do a duet with. They will only sing with the stars who they like the most. The radio station has picked the songs that will be sung. Mrs. Arevshatyan says the following, “We tried to avoid songs about love. All the songs must be for children. We have great children’s songs, which have been forgotten recently. For example, “Puy-Puy Mknik” or Ruben Hakhverdyan’s “Navak”. The children are going to sing those kinds of songs with professional singers. There will be songs about Yerevan and segments from the “Children’s Musical” by Artur Grigoryan”. Artur Gevorgyan will be the producer of this project and is going to conduct joint rehearsals with children and singers. The rehearsals will begin as soon as school starts. Mrs. Arevshatyan pledges that she will actively play those songs during this year, both on radio and television. “We want people to pay attention to the lives of those children. There is no need to pity them. It would be more accurate to say that we are the ones, who need to communicate with them not the children”, she says. Video clips will be filmed, which will appear in the form of short films. At the end of the year a DVD will be released, which will be sold in Russia and the US. “The DVD is going to be very expensive. A special account will be opened for children and the profit received from this sale will benefit them”, says the director of “Van”. There are no sponsors for this project. This is non-profit. However the authors of the project hope that there will be people, who will take care of the outfit of those children. Even if people don’t like this, they will continue to do it.
