“Iran is interested in the construction of the second branch of Iran-Armenia pipeline”. This was announced on Tuesday by the Minister of Economy and Finances of Iran Davud Danesh-Jafari during the 6th session of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental cooperation committee.

“It’s on behalf of Iran to rapidly complete the construction of Iran-Armenia pipeline and installment of special devices. The Iranians hope that the pipeline will start to operate in January 2007. Both Tehran and Yerevan are interested in the construction of the Hydro-Electric Station as well as the transportation terminal of Nurduz”, said the Iranian minister and added that those programs will be implemented by joint efforts of Yerevan and Tehran.

According to Davud Danesh-Jafari, it is profitable for Iran to support Armenia to join the main international agreement of “North-South” transportation corridor. Only the Armenian government has to agree to this.
