We have business in the court

31/01/2006

The mayor of Noyemberyan Seryozha Amiraghyan has sued “168 Zham”. Let’s recall that on November 27, “168 Zham” has published the open letter (entitled “Building is given to Avaganis”) of the residents of Noyemberyan, which was sent to Prime-Minister A. Margaryan and RA President’s Advisor on Corruption Issues Bagrat Yesayan. The residents of Noyemberyan wrote that S. Amiraghyan has presented the building of the former bathing house to one of the members of his campaign headquarters Varuzhan Babajanyan. Mr. Amiraghyan didn’t believe that the letter was actually sent by the residents and wrote to us, “The facts mentioned in the article are far from reality and truthfulness which degrades my reputation, dignity and my business career.” The same reasons were brought in his law suit. Mr. Amiraghyan asked the court to make “168 Zham” write a denying article about the open letter entitled “Building is given to city administration council”. By the way, when visiting us, S. Amiraghyan’s young lawyer threatened to publish a denying article, otherwise the newspaper will be in trouble. We refused to deny anything and advised the mayor to appeal to the court. Mr. Amiraghyan accepted our advice. Thus the court procedure will take place on January 30 in the first instance court of Kentron, Nork Marash communities of Yerevan.
