The RA police board registered 370 cases of suicide or suicide attempt in 2005, most of which alas was had tragic outcome. In January the police registered 26 cases of suicide, in February – 23, in March – 35, in April – 47, in May – 26, in June 37, in July – 39, in August – 34, in September – 29, in October -30, in November 27 and in December17. In most cases the reason was social and financial crisis, as well as unemployment. Some of these people, before committing suicide, left a note saying that they were going to kill themselves because they couldn’t resist their financial crisis any more. There were also cases when people committed suicide because of their illnesses. It is worth to mention that there have been a lot of cases of suicide in the temporary jail rooms of police stations. According to our information, there have been these kinds of cases in the police stations of Syunik, Ararat and Lori Marzes. There have been cases of suicide committed by teenagers, students and army soldiers too.
