The real actions of the united opposition will start after Christmas. But before that parties included in the “18+8” format will be occupied with establishing party committees. Prior to the revolution of January 27, the opposition will organize various predictable and unpredictable events. “After Christmas the society will be gradually introduced to the plans and events of the united opposition”, says A. Sargsyan.
According to the Chairman of the “Republic” Party reformations have started within both opposition and government and at present the government and opposition parties are in a process of “interesting” dialogs. According to A. Sargsyan the Karabagh conflict and the possibility of raising the gas price are very serious issues, which the opposition will advert to after the holidays. A. Sargsyan pledges that the gas price doesn’t shift from $56 to $110. It is going to be $210. “If we add the services of the “Trans Gas” to $110 (by which gas is provided to consumers), VAT, the income of “Haygazart” and “Trans Gas” we will see that the price is $210”, says, A. Sargsyan. “And the industry of the RA is not able to resist this situation. No matter how pro-governmental the statesman or the oligarch is, he won’t be able to work on the basis of those prices. Therefore the price of certain goods will be raised as well. As our industry is not automatic, new technologies are not invested we will become uncompetitive in many spheres. Thus, I think that the revolution process has already started and its colors are going to be darker”, he says.
To the question whether the Armenian People’s Party is going to join the “dark colors” (Stepan Demirchyan announced that they had ceased participating in protests) A. Sargsyan answered, “I don’t know. It will be more accurate to ask them that question. The session of the “18+8” format decided the rally of January 27. This was done to both make us more accountable and to show the society that we had not forgotten about the referendum. Unfortunately APP did not participate in that session. However before that session they announced that were not going to participate in rallies”, says A. Sargsyan and adds, “time will show whether they will participate or not. But if they change their minds and decide to participate, there is still time for that and they have the chance to do that”. As a response to the complaints of the representatives of the APP (as though they were not informed about the conduct of the rallies) A. Sargsyan responded, “If they were not informed of the date and time of the rallies they wouldn’t possibly be able to be present at the rallies. No rally was conducted without prior agreement during the sessions of the “18+8” format. All the details of each rally were discussed in advance – the date, time, and place. The responsibilities of each party during the rallies are also discussed. APP keeps participating in those sessions but not in the person of the Chairman. They always have a representative during these sessions and it will be incorrect to say that they were not aware.”
We asked the Chairman of the “Republic” Party whether they were going to cooperate with the newly established “Prosperous Armenia” Party or they’re going to oppose them. “In my strong belief every single party pursues same goals as the “Prosperous Armenia”. I wouldn’t like to prejudge. We should wait until they publicly announce what their course is, who are the ones that are behind the party. And after that I will develop my approaches on that party. As of now I think the party is initiated by the government and perhaps they will be a governmental party. I’m not sure the right wing or the left one, but definitely not communists. The time will come and everything will be clear”, pledged A. Sargsyan, “at present we are in a state that no political force is real in our country. The political filed is the wealth of our country but unfortunately it is in a poor state just like the Armenian economy and the reputation in the world. In this condition it is hard to have a clearly formed political field. In case of forming something like a locomotive it will be possible to manage everything. I don’t think any party is able to become a locomotive.” A. Sargsyan doesn’t rush in giving his estimations about the “Prosperous Armenia”. Based on the announcements of the Media the Party is strongly supported by the Secretary of the Justice Alliance Viktor Dallakyan, NA Deputy Emma Khudabashyan. “The Media tried to express views about the possibility of Viktor Dallakyan and Emma Khudabashyan to become members of the “Prosperous Armenia”. Only the party platform will show whether V. Dallakyan will benefit from joining the party or not. They should clearly say what pole they belong to as well as express their viewpoints about the Karabagh conflict. Right now I can only welcome the visit of any party to the political field of Armenia because in Armenia the parties and politicians are humiliated. By the way this party may be either extremely oppositionist or extremely pro-governmental”.
