A Meaningless Persuasion

24/07/2005

The leader of the Armenian community in Iraq persuaded Armenia’s
authorities to not send troops to Iraq because he fears for the
negative effects which may follow. Prime Minister Andranik Markaryan
opposed that persuasion and said: “I would make a persuasion for the
Armenian community in Iraq. How much help can they provide in solving
Armenia’s problems with other countries? We can listen to the
persuasions but the government’s interests are one thing and the
persuasions another. If those persuasions don’t interfere with our
interests, then we will take them into consideration.”
