Will the unified opposition win?

The revolutions in Georgia and Ukraine encouraged the Armenian opposition to do the same thing in Armenia. However, the opposition does not change anything in its “strategy” and it is trying to start a revolution in Armenia with the methods that have been used and failed. You even get the impression that those oppositionists have no strategy at all. They hold public meetings, say a few words and then go home. The interesting thing though is that there are many contradictions during the speeches made at the meeting and this proves that our oppositionists do not even consult with each other. One leader doesn’t know what the other is talking about. They keep on remembering and remind the people about the Georgian and Ukrainian revolutions in order to “encourage” them. However, before the revolutions in Georgia and Ukraine, the people already had a clear vision about the values of the opposition and we can’t say the same for Armenia. This is the reason why there are so few people at the opposition meetings today. A large part of the few people come to the meetings not only because they want to, or because they want Stepan Demirchyan, Aram Z. Sargsyan and others to come to power, but rather, they want Robert Kocharyan, Serj Sargsyan and other authority representatives to step down from office. Judging from the fact that the united people don’t always win, as in 2003, our oppositionist leaders decided to unite and they always like to repeat that the opposition is united today more than ever. However, judging from the lack in the united opposition’s organizational skills, diverse ideology, or better yet, its incomprehensible values, the “actions” taken by the united opposition will end just like the “actions” taken by the united people. Just like the Armenian authorities exaggerate the economic rise in the country and the number of participants in the referendum, the opposition is also exaggerating the positive results of the revolutions in Georgia and Ukraine. We must state the truth and say that in reality, for example, there were many negative consequences after the “Revolution of Roses” in Georgia. For example, ever since Georgian president Mikail Sahakashvili liquidated the transportation police officers and made cadre changes in the police department, there have been more thefts and crimes in general in the country. People are afraid of carrying valuable objects with them even when they go out of the house in the afternoon hours. There have even been cases when armed men have stopped any bus and forced the passengers to hand over all valuable items. The Armenians living in Tbilisi claim that there has been a rise in theft ever since that hooligan (this is how Armenians refer to Sahakashvili) became president. Basically, Tbilisi is in the same situation that Yerevan was in early 1990s. Whereas a large number of Armenians living in Yerevan dream of starting a revolution like the Georgians, a large number of Armenians living in Tbilisi dream of living in Armenia. As a matter of fact, the Tbilisi-Armenians are worried about the recent scandal brought up by the authorities in regard to Javakhk’s autonomy. They worry that if the situation gets worse in Javakhk, then it will cause difficulties for them. According to some Armenians living in Georgia, there is a high level of racism in Georgia and they feel that each day.
