This collage by artist Sergey Parajanov entitled “Trio”(Troyka in
Russian) belonged to a private collection months ago. It has been
donated to the Parajanov house/museum by businessman and president of
“ATAVANK LES’ Levon Hayrapetyan, who was born in Karabagh. The exact
year of the collage is unknown. The owner of the museum Zaven Sargsyan
predicts that the painter created the work of art before his arrest in
1973, most probably in 1970. The collage is Parajanov’s interpretation
of the communist regime. It portrays Rublyov’s “Holy Trinity”, the
symbols of Soviet rule: Stalin in his prime, Lenin and Trotski. The 400
gram bread ticket of 1942 and the people spread out like ants…
The house/museum named after Parajanov has other donations. Overall,
there are approximately 600-700 canvases put up for display, personal
items and letters forming a total of 1400 examples.
