It has been more than ten years that the basement of #12 building of “Quiet Don” street in Erebouni community is flooded with water. The citizens have applied to the local community, local government and other corresponding bodies to find a solution to this problem, but all in vain.
In regard to this, the citizens called the local government of Erebouni community of Yerevan. But the officials told them that neither the head of the community, nor deputies nor other heads of departments were at the site. One of the officials of the local government body told us during our conversation that it wasn’t their responsibility and said that the citizens had to apply to the local civil community.
According to head of “Argishti” civil community Shoushanik Kalantaryan, the problem was very serious for them and they could not solve that problem: “The sewerage system of that building is in a very bad condition. We tried to help the citizens for several times, we made some reconstruction there, but this didn’t help us. The situation is so bad that very few people agree to go there, because the smell is horrible”.
The water under the building is up to two meters high. The citizens assure that there are damaged tubes under their building and that is why the water can not be dried. “When they make reconstruction here, the water goes down for about two meters, but some time later it goes up again”, – say the citizens. The external walls of the building are wet, this means that the basement of the building is in water. There are 36 apartments in this building and now there is a danger that it may collapse. The citizens agree to collect money to solve this problem along with the help of their municipality.
:”We will all give money, but good specialists must come here. This is not only my apartment, the whole building is in bad conditions. We are not able to solve this problem without their help”, -said one of the citizens. Our officials have announced many times that the civil buildings fund of our city is in bad conditions and will be in worse conditions in about 10-15 years and that they must make serious reconstructions in order to strengthen the basements of the buildings. But as soon as there is a need to make concrete steps towards reconstruction, they say that their financial support is not enough and they don’t pay attention to these kinds of problems any more.
