On Sunday in Harsnakar restaurant on Acharyan street the head of the Central clinical hospital department, major Vahe Avetyan and surgeon of the same hospital captain Artak Bayadyan were severely beaten up to loss of consciousness. Both of them were taken to Muratsan hospital. Vahe Avetyan received severe injury on his head and had to undergo a surgery. The surgery lasted several hours and currently he is in reanimation department and his health condition is heavy. Media reports say that the culprits beating up the mentioned people are the guards of the head of the Armenian football federation Ruben Hayrapetyan. The guards did not let Vahe Avetyan and his friend to enter the restaurant because of their sports clothes and they were told that people in sports appearance were not allowed to do in. The guests did not argue, they went and returned with different clothes. The incident took place in the end, when the waiter, who brought the bill, according to witnesses provoked a conflict, as a result of which the security employees interfered. V.Avetyan’s relative Edgar Nikoyan told Radio Liberty that he was present during the incident. According to him, they were at the mentioned restaurant at a party, where there was some small conflict with a waiter, which later turned into beating in the outside of the restaurant. He said that 10-15 had beaten up Avetyan, and he assumed that those were the employees of the restaurant. Nikoyan said that he did not know about the reason of the beating as they had not done any wrong to anybody and they did not understand why that had happened.
The other doctor, Artak Bayadyan, is in reanimation department as well. The head of the department of the hospital Hayk Antonyan informed radio Liberty that the latter had brain concussion and loss of memory as well.
The director of Harsnakar restaurant Hrachya Zohrabyan gave interview to Panorama.am, in which he said that the owner of the restaurant, Ruben Hayrapetyan did not know about the severe beating of their clients. “Yesterday that group visited the restaurant at 11 o’clock; they were drunk. There were five of them, including one girl, and later another girl joined them. They were wearing sportswear. Our waiter noticed that the manager did not allow them enter the restaurant with sportswear. They were drunk, they were swearing and told the waiter to come out and attacked him. When the guard of our restaurant saw that happening he approached the guys, pushed them, and one of them fell down,” said Zohrabyan. In answer to question who was the one that fell down the manager said, “I can’t say; I don’t know the names of the customers. There were many customers there. Even someone from the neighboring table, who were having a party, were angry at us and asked to call the manager and ask why the restaurant administration had allowed that group enter the restaurant. They asked to invite those people out and let them spend their goodtime as the people from that table were swearing with bad behavior.” In answer to question whether any of the employees of the restaurant had provoked a conflict the manager said that there could not be anything like that as they were always trying even to make those who provoked conflicts come down and not to disturb the others. Anyway, the director accepted the fact that the security guards and other customers of their restaurant had participated in the beating. The police informs that the details of the incident in the restaurant are known already, as well as they know who was injured during the severe beating. The police media department informs that the investigation body has not done any activities with the suffered people because according to doctors their health condition continues to be heavy, but investigation is still in process.
