Competition in a cubic

Radio Liberty has covered the analysis entitled “test for the Armenian society”, which was published by Sergey Markedonov, a Russian expert living in Washington. This work covers he pre-election developments and processes in Armenia. According to the expert, the situation is getting even tense because of the fact that the political affiliation and party belonging issues are more colorful in Armenia rather than in Georgia or Azerbaijan. “In this country there are three but not only one pro-government party, each of which is working not so much for the common interests rather than for their narrow interests,” said the expert concerning the RPA, PA and LS parties. Concerning the opposition Makedonov said, “Anyway the situation is not so much clear in the opposition either. The ARF, ANC and Heritage are running for parliament separately. They are fighting against not only the government but each other as well. If the ANC has chances to attract votes due to their leader’s charismatic appearance, the ARF can do it due to their historical brand. From this prospective the pre-election competition in Armenia looks like a competition in a cubic. It’s not so much that the authorities and opposition are fighting against each other, but the competition is about who is going to be the main actors on the top of the powers of the government and opposition.”
