Unsuccessful explanation by the Catherine’s Mihran

22/01/2012

During yesterday’s press conference the head of the justice ministry judicial acts mandatory fulfillment department Mihran Poghsoyan refused to comment on the incident that took place in 2011, as a result of which the minister of justice Gevorg Danielyan was dismissed from his position. Reminder: during that incident M. Poghosyan slapped in the face of one of his officers, who was the relative of RPA MP Davit Harutyunyan.

“There have been serious statements concerning this issue at high levels. I don’t think that any other state official should comment on this issue after the announcement of the prime-minister. Even if I don’t agree with it,” said Poghosyan. A journalist asked whether it meant that Poghosyan did not agree with the mentioned announcements and opinions, in answer to which the latter said, “Let’s not comment and be open to each other. I have invited you, everyone here and let’s be open to each other.”

In answer to questions concerning rumors that Poghosyan is going to run for the parliamentary elections during the upcoming parliamentary elections he said that he had no plans like that. By the way, he also refuted the rumors that he would be leading the pre-election campaign headquarter of the ruling party in Kanaker-Zeytun community. “I know that Kotanjyan Arayik will be the head of that headquarter. And as I have some relations with that community, I know that the community head is doing his job very well,” said Poghosyan. Mihran Poghosyan is known in the business world as Mihran of the Catherine but he pledges that since 2007 he does not have any businesses. However, it is enough to say only that he is the one who does the import of citrus fruit to Armenia (we will write about the other businesses he runs in our next publications). By the way, in answer to the allegations that he was connected with businesses he gave a very funny answer. He says that the reason that the names of certain businesses are connected with him is the fact that those businesses are located in the buildings that belong to him. This means that he has given his territories to the network of Fresh supermarkets and Catherine company for rent. However, he did not clarify why he was given the nickname Mihran of the Catherine. Shortly he confessed that those businesses used to belong him. “it is not a secret that I was involved in business since 1995; I established the Catherine company and had very lucky career. However, in 2007, when I was appointed deputy chief of the mandatory fulfillment department of the justice ministry, I sold, left the businesses or whatever, and now I am not connected with those businesses ,” said Mihran Poghosyan. This was a funny attempt of justification.
