“It is possible that the confrontation of the authorities and opposition may still stay if the authorities are able to neutralize the former government, including Robert Kocharyan. On the other hand, Moscow may want to make the opposition its power, and the West may try to bring both sides to a compromise not to allow Moscow do that,” said former member of Karabakh committee Ashot Manucharyan during yesterday’s interview. Concerning the upcoming elections and roles of parties he said that it does not matter who would be elected in the parliament, the situation in Armenia would still stay the same.

“There are problems and these problems must be solved. Really, the country is faced with many challenges. The opposition should try to take the power. Meanwhile, it is possible that difficult processes may happen in Armenia. Armenia should change its qualities. For this purpose we should crystallize the situation in Armenia as the future depends on us. We must have better qualities to overcome the challenges,” said Ashot Manucharyan. Concerning the ANC he says that the opposition party must do much in order to be able to keep the positions it has now. “They must strengthen their positions, otherwise the other party will take the key role. The opposition has appeared in a very interesting situation and each of the parties will try to make relation with them. In Armenia everyone wants money and power,” he said. Concerning the recent replacement in the government Manucharyan says that with these actions the authorities want to show to the people and external world that they are able to make changes with their own efforts. “In fact these changes contain more slyness than we can imagine. The oligarchs will be replaced by young people, so called ‘young people from Harvard’, who may be more dangerous than oligarchs,” said Manucharyan.
