According to our information, recently Yenok Azaryan, a member of Yerevan city council and the head of the council’s committee on legal affairs, was appointed deputy mayor of Yerevan. Before this appointment there were rumors that another member of the council Naira Nahapetyan (Naira of HES) might be appointed deputy mayor. The deputy mayor must be appointed from the council members. According to our information, Azaryan’s appointment in this position was also due to the efforts of the head of the Church Araratian branch Navasard (Samvel) Kchoyan. Before being elected council member Azaryan used to serve as the head of the qualification committee of the bar chamber of Armenia in 2006-2008, and in 2008 was appointed as director of the Standard National Institute of the ministry of economy.
