The news about the UK prime-minister David Cameron’s announcement that his country would refuse to provide aids to those countries that would ban the marriage of gay people was disseminated in Armenia as well. By the way, in the Great Britain gay people can marry and adopt children.
In the nature homosexuals are minority and nobody knows why there is an opinion that their rights are abused. In the world, including in Armenia, gay people feel free and enjoy the same rights as the people with traditional orientation. They are not even afraid to speak in front of cameras. “High rank officials cooperate with us and the ordinary people are cautious. Nobody prohibits us to work here. We work wherever we want. Those who have tried have seen that,” says Vardan (the nickname is Cooliana), who is gay and works near the Yerablur. “They even don’t try to do anything with us because we already have a lot of information and there are many of us,” says the gay guy (http://www.1in.am/arm/armenia_society_3807.htm).
For example, in Armenia in order to insult somebody you can tell him that he is a f… (gay). However, this announcement of the British PM is a challenge for the countries with traditions and those that have rejected marriage of homosexuals.
Nowadays homosexuals have their place in the world; they occupy high rank positions, have money, lead powerful companies and even manage the show business in the world. Even more, in many places in the world homosexuals hold parades as they believe it is their right.
The relations of different sexes are a complicated issue, and through the time the values are changing. However, the family is the highest value for me. Not only from the judicial point of view, but from the moral point of view as well because when one gets married and has babies, they give some rights and take one some responsibilities, thus this is an instinct of protection from external threats. The propaganda for homosexuals is one of such dangers. Maybe it is good that the homosexuals are given with freedom of choice how to live, but this minority should respect the rights of the majority too and not to lobby for their choice, thus the only tool countries can find is the ban for marriage of homosexuals.
These people want to have families too, thus the states and churches should compromise and give this opportunity to homosexuals. This logic is very strange because with the same logic one can say that zoophilists have this right of making family too. Where does this logic drive to? Criminals and drug addicts say that the nature has made them be like that, so should we give the same rights to them too?
Homosexuality is not given by the nature but it is the choice of a free man. One can choose this way or refuse. Even Lev Tolstoy had such experience in his youth. Recently the Russian ‘Kultura’ channel showed a program about Tolstoy, in which they published the diary of the writer, where he wrote that he could not even look at girls. But in several years in his writings he wrote the vice versa and mentioned that he hated homosexuality. It is about the choice of the human being and depends on the level of consciousness.
As a justification homosexuals say that many prominent people in the world were gay. The values are changing and there are already tendencies considering traditional families an old fashion. Western values are based on minor things such as calculation of cholesterols in food, as well as contradicting morality with the values and rights of people. If this process and the pressure on part of the largest states of the world continues, those who are minority today will become majority, and at that time the most actual story will be the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.
