On October 12-21 of the current year a public census will take place. According to the rumors that reached us, in parallel with the official census the National Security Service also used its tools to count the number of population in Armenia. As a result we have a horrible picture. According to these surveys the actual number of the Armenian population fluctuates around 1 million 450 thousand and 1 million 600 thousand. Despite the efforts of the government to keep this information secret these numbers are being discussed in different circles. Currently the appropriate bodies with active participation of the National Statistical Service, are trying to seek ways to “provide” a figure close to three million as a result of the upcoming census.
