The government has to concede in regard to the Soviet “red passports”. Yesterday the RA police office made an announcement regarding this: “The citizens living on the territory of Armenia who haven’t changed their old soviet passports with new ones have a right to change their old passports with new ones by presenting them to the appropriate bodies. The expenses for photos, registering and other relevant activities are going to be covered by the RA government”. Yesterday the government officers couldn’t inform us about how much money they were going to provide for these purposes. The government will probably make its decision during the upcoming session. It is worth to mention that according to different sources of information there are about 200-300 thousand citizens in Armenia who have “red passports”. The price for one passport photo is 500 dram, and there is also a tax of 1.000 dram per citizen. I.e. they have to provide 1.500 dram for each person.
