In the beginning of the last week the celebration of the 15th anniversary of HSBC Armenia took place at Zvartnots temple. It proceeded with participation of the founder and owner of the bank, British-Armenian Vache Manukyan and other high-rank officials of HSBC network. According to our information, although Serzh Sargsyan was invited to the celebration but he didn’t participate because on that day he was attending the birthday of the son of the Speaker of NA Hovik Abrahamyan. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended the event somewhat late. According to the same sources Vache Manukyan was insulted because of such an attitude and left Armenia on the next day of the celebration. Let us recall that the Bank was established as a closed joint stock company in 1996. The bank is a joint venture between the HSBC Group, which has a 70% ownership, and members of overseas Armenian businesses with 30% ownership. It is one of the leading banks in the foreign exchange market. HSBC Bank Armenia offers a wide range of products and services to individual as well as corporate customers in Armenia and abroad. The arrival of this international bank to Armenia in the 90s had not only economic but also political importance and was connected first of all with the personal efforts of Vache Manukyan.
