Hostages of dialogue

10/05/2011

In the recent times it is spoken much about the intervention and role of external powers in domestic politics, especially in the context of dialogue between the Armenian National Congress and authorities. A part of such opinions and analysis come to the conclusion that the dialogue between the authorities and opposition is mediated by the US, specifically by the US Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch. It is difficult to assume whether it is true or no but the representatives of the US Embassy, opposition and authorities have numerously refuted this possibility. The strangest thing is the fact that the accusations of this mediation, which is mostly spoken by the pro-Russian political groups or media are done mostly by the people, who have been accusing the Americans for attempts to organize revolution in Armenia. It is a strange contradiction because two months ago the Americans were doing their best to prevent revolution in Armenia. In fact it is very interesting that both the authorities and opposition (ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan has numerously announced that the key to solving many problems in Armenia is in the hands of Russians) of Armenia as non-democratic as they are pro-Russian but their dialogue is being mediated and organized by Americans.
