Today is the 14th day of the hunger strike of the founder of Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisian, which is taking place in the Liberty Square. As of yesterday Hovhannisian still intended to continue it. However, while the latter is continuing his hunger strike by demanding solutions for national and global issues, according to his party members, several people have already started to undertake concrete actions and solve concrete political issues outside the Liberty Square. Or at least these people are trying to solve. For example, the deputy-chair of the Heritage party Ruben Hakobyan after his visits to Gyumri and Vanadzor, announced that in the near future certain representatives of the Armenian National Congress will start to cooperate with the Heritage by conducing to the formation of a new internal political situation. “There are people here, who need cooperation. But the speeches, which are made by Levon Ter-Petrosyan contradict these wishes,” stated deputy-chair of the Heritage by refusing to mention names. “We are planning to conduct our policies in a way, which will unite the Armenian opposition and of course one of the main factors is the ANC. We also think that ultimately if there are persons, who don’t wish that it doesn’t mean that the given opposition group is the property of those persons. Certain angles of cooperation should be found,” stated Hakobyan in the meantime promising “dynamic” developments in the internal political life of Armenia. It means that while the party leader is on hunger strike his party members are trying to unite with some groups and politicians and are trying to form a new political situation, which is indeed not the change, for which Raffi Hovhannisian is striking. And they are trying to do it at the expense of the ANC. The interesting thing is that starting from the first days of Hovahnnisian’s hunger strike the members of the Heritage were interpreting the indifference of the ANC as steps hindering the unionization of the opposition. Now, however, they are doing the same, by “snatching” supporters from the ANC. Both in Heritage and ANC know good and well who benefits from this kind of activities. Or perhaps they do so because they know.
