Without the ‘Armenian World’

01/02/2011

In the Swiss town of Davos today, January 26, opens the 41 the World Economic Forum. It will last until January 30 and will be held under the motto "Common approaches to new realities." The forum in Davos is considered to be the most important event in the world every year, and this is where the directions and priorities of the world economy development are decided. This event will host approximately 2,500 business people from 100 countries, civic and political activists, including presidents of 35 countries. As it was expected, Armenia does not participate in this event in any manner; there is not even a delegation consisting of mid-level officials from Armenia in Davos. In reality it is normal for a country which is isolated not only from the world but regional processes as well and in fact lives on the account of money transfers from other countries and foreign borrowings. The Davos world forum is for those countries that have something to give to the world economy and have some role in the world economic processes. From this prospective Armenia does not represent any interests (those directions that might have any interest have been taken by Russia already). In addition, any prospective of receiving something from other countries is associated with foreign borrowings on part of the government.
