Very soon Armenia will be busy with pre-election preparations. Some processes have already started with replacements in the government. The opposition ANC continues to announce that extraordinary elections will take place and by doing these replacements the authorities are fastening the process which will lead to change of government. It is not excluded that the ANC is true and the authorities are in a weak situation. But even if it is, and the pyramid collapses, the opposition will have no participation in it. The recent developments in politics show that the ANC does not drive the political agenda of the country and does not influence much. Before the opposition stopped the periodic rallies, demonstrations and other actions the political processes used to be influenced by Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s team and their demands. After every rally of the opposition the authorities and their loyalists used to meet, discuss and criticize the speech of the opposition leader. It means that the ANC used to drive some processes and their role was important. Now the authorities are taking that role. It doesn’t matter whether the authorities are using it for propaganda purposes because the fact is that due to the ANC’s “tolerance” the authorities are taking the role of driving the domestic political processes, which they were not able to do since 2007, when Levon Ter-Petrosyan announced about his return to politics.
